Summer is just around the corner, which for many of you means a well-deserved holiday. We’re looking forward to it too! In this edition of our newsletter, you’ll find everything you need to know for a carefree summer: from our opening hours to the automatic refund of expired service vouchers. You may also have read in the media about the unfair contracts used by some service voucher companies. Let us be clear: DCO Beerse vzw strongly condemns such practices and works exclusively with fair, transparent agreements. With us, you can enjoy your holiday with peace of mind, whilst your household remains in good hands.

You may have read in the newspaper recently about service voucher companies threatening customers with hefty penalty clauses if they switch providers or hire a cleaner directly. Flemish Minister Zuhal Demir is right to announce stricter controls on such practices, which, incidentally, are not even legally valid. We understand that such reports may raise questions.
At DCO Beerse vzw, we do not use any ‘stranglehold’ contracts. Our agreements with clients are fair, transparent and fully in line with current legislation. We believe that a good working relationship is based on trust, not on fear or legal tricks. That has always been our approach, and it will remain so.
A well-trained and well-supported domestic helper provides a better service. That is why we invest heavily in supporting our staff, and you will feel the difference in your home.
Training courses
In the spring of 2026, we organised eight training courses for no fewer than 92 of our domestic helpers. From cleaning techniques and ironing to communicating with clients: our domestic helpers are constantly learning new skills.
Coaching in your own home
Our job coaches Kristine and Corina actively support employees in the workplace – which, in this case, is your home. With around 115 support sessions carried out at clients’ homes between January and June, we are able to address key issues quickly and effectively.
New: visits from our safety advisor
Since March 2026, our safety advisor has been making monthly visits to clients’ homes, focusing on safety, prevention and wellbeing. During these visits, we also check that the cleaning equipment provided is safe and in good working order, such as cleaning products, a stepladder and other equipment. This is good for your domestic help, and good for you as a customer.
From 1 June 2026, unused electronic service vouchers that expire on or after that date will be automatically refunded. To ensure this process runs smoothly, users should check their account number and update it if necessary at My Citizen Profile. [1]
