Newsletter - October 2024

Dear colleague,

The summer months are behind us and autumn has made its appearance.

Warm summer evenings are being replaced by enjoyable walks in the woods in the colours of autumn.

In this newsletter we focus on mental well-being, the importance of education & training as well as more information on the conversion from paper to electronic service cheques.

Over the past weeks - days, 'the service cheques' have been under strong media attention due to the negotiations of a new Flemish Government.

The Flemish Coalition Agreement 2024 - 2029 is known, however, there is nothing concrete in this agreement about how the ambition will be realised and especially with what financial means.

Herewith the literal passage from the agreement:

"2.9 Service vouchers: The service vouchers remain an important instrument to combat undeclared work by creating regular jobs for short-skilled workers and to make the work-life balance feasible. We improve the pay and working conditions of domestic workers to keep their work attractive and workable. In the interests of transparency towards consumers and working conditions for the staff, we will enter into consultations."

From DCO Beerse vzw, we await further communication and, as always, we will adopt a constructive attitude as employer in order to reach an agreement with the trade unions for our organisation within a feasible long-term financial framework.
